Canadian Screenwriters, Producers Agree New Labor Deal

The Writers Guild of Canada and the Canadian Media Producers Association, representing local indie film and television producers, have agreed terms for a new labor contract.

Terms of the latest Independent Production Agreement, which awaits ratification, were not disclosed. But they will cover rates and workplace conditions for Canadian writers, story editors, and story consultants.

Key stumbling blocks in the Canadian labor talks included securing fair compensation for writers, protections against evolving artificial intelligence technologies on live-action and animation projects, and minimum writers’ room staffing on domestic TV series.

New Delhi: Sanlam Life Insurance — one of the promoters of Shriram Finance — on Thursday offloaded shares for Rs 1,427 crore through an open market transaction. Shriram Finance is one of the country’s biggest retail non-banking financial companies (NBFCs) offering credit solutions for commercial vehicles, two-wheeler loans, and car loans.

According to the block deal data available with the National Stock Exchange (NSE), Sanlam Life Insurance Ltd sold 59.80 lakh shares, amounting to a 1.6 per cent stake of the company.

LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — A recent report shows small business optimism is at an 11-year low, but small businesses in central Kentucky are working to overcome the current economic challenges.
